Racing in Kaslo BC this weekend, looks like there might be a bit of rain or snow depending on what elevation we are at. The race is called the Suffer Fest and the course climbs up to 7300ft and is overall 100km long. Should be fun. Leighton and Jon are coming out from Canmore. They are both going to be racing La Ruta this year as well. Suffer fest will be a good training day for us. Check out the Suffer Fest link.

New whip
Thanks to Giant Bicycles, Colby Large and Paul Nash I just received the 2012 Xtc carbon 29er. This will be my race bike for La Ruta. I can't wait.

Here is the new course for the Bow 80. It is now 63km and takes just about as long to race due to all of the climbing. I finished 6th overall and 4th in my age category. The winning time was 4 hours and my time was 4:16. Pretty good considering I took 2 weeks off the bike dealing with the Fat Tire fest and getting married. Next race is the Kaslo suffer fest and I hope to ride 140km. Check out their site. http://www.kaslosufferfest.com/ My plan is to race the 100km course and finish in time to race the 40km that starts at 1pm. We'll see how that goes. Should be a good training day for Costa Rica.

Results from my first weekend with no agenda.
I finally got out on the bike and rode both days. I went for a 7 hr ride on Saturday. 175 km 2700 meters over two mountain passes and finished with a refreshing soak in Kootenay Lake. On Sunday Tobi and I went out on a organized group ride with the Nelson Cycling club and rode the new trail up above Beasley.Vallelujah is the name of the new trail. The name was chosen because of the stunning views you get of the Valhalla mountain range along the ride. It was a 22km relaxed pace and felt good as my legs were sore from the day before.
I am looking forward to the Bow 80 plus coming up this weekend. There is going to be some fast riders there and it looks like the weather will co-operate. I have done the race twice and both times the rain and snow made for an uncomfortable experience. Last years race was canceled due to snow. If everything goes well I hope that this is my year to win a big old Alberta belt buckle. Check out the race and the new course for this year. http://bow80.com/
Wish me luck.
